Eyes are the windows to the soul, they say. But it’s not common knowledge that they are actually also a window to our health.

The most gratifying part of going to events is meeting new people and learning new things. Recently I got to wander into the revamped branch of vision express in SM City Cebu and it was plenty worth it.

EYE AI. In just three minutes, AI technology can scan your eyes and reveal general insights on your overall health.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered the latest developments in technology using AI for eye health.

The first stop in the store takes you to the Virtual Styling Studio where an AI Stylist scanned my face and picked frames that match my face shape and skin tone. The personal shopper energy was real!

More impressive was the VisionPlus Health Screening where in just 3 minutes, AI technology scanned my eyes and revealed insights on possible health risks. Apparently the eyes can hint at issues like high cholesterol, glaucoma or even early cognitive decline.

It was because of the tech experience and the doctor’s explanation that I realized this: although the state of one’s eyes is something that is often taken for granted, the eyes can actually tell a story about a person‘s underlying health conditions. So, it’s very important to have your eyes checked — and not just wait for it to start getting inconvenient before you do so.

The event was more than just an eye-opening (pun intended) experience. It was a good time to connect with old and new friends while snacking on Cebu’s iconic makalipies, and drooling over Vision Express’ gorgeous new frames and interiors.
