Seven things to bring so your glasses are ready in 20 minutes

Seven things to bring so your glasses are ready in 20 minutes

Twenty-minute glasses are real, but they come with conditions. Only certain lenses are in stock, and the clock starts once the team has what it needs. A little preparation saves you the wait for something you could have brought from home.

This checklist covers what to carry and what to know before you walk in.

The lenses that qualify

On the Vision Express Lens Menu, three lenses are in stock and ready in 20 minutes: Basic 1.50, Opulens Advanced 1.60 and Opulens Ultra 1.60. Other Express lenses, such as Opulens Blue Light 1.56 and Essilor Elements White 1.56, are ready in 1 to 2 days. Lenses made to order from France, Israel or Japan take longer.

The 20-minute promise applies to the in-stock lenses. If you want a different lens, ask the team for its lead time before you plan your day.

1. A current prescription

If you had a Vision7 exam recently, bring the written prescription. If you do not have one, book an exam first. The optometrist can then pass the result to the optical counter, and you can often move straight to choosing a lens.

2. Your frame, if you are reusing one

If you want new lenses in your old frame, bring it. The optical team checks that the frame is sound and can hold the new lens. A bent or cracked frame may need a repair or replacement first.

3. Your old glasses

Even if you are buying a new frame, your old pair helps. The team can read your current lens power and compare it with the new prescription. It also tells them how you wear your glasses.

4. A clear idea of your day

Tell the team what you do. Long hours on a screen, motorbike commutes, humid outdoor work and school days each point to different lens needs. A short conversation here matters more than any item on this list.

5. A time buffer

Twenty minutes is the lens making time, not the entire visit. Add time for the exam, frame selection, fitting and adjustment. Choosing the frame is often the slowest part. If you can browse before the visit, you will save time.

6. A phone with your preferred frame references

If you have a style in mind, bring a photo. It helps the team narrow the options that suit your face shape and your prescription.

7. Your questions about the warranty and servicing

Every pair comes with a 1-year warranty, free lifetime ultrasonic cleaning and free lifetime custom fitting and adjustment. Ask what to do if the frame loosens, so you know where to return.

What 20 minutes cannot cover

If your prescription is strong, complex or includes high astigmatism, the in-stock lens may not cover your values. The team will tell you. A progressive lens is not on the 20-minute list. If you need glasses urgently and your prescription falls outside the in-stock range, ask what the next fastest option is.

Skipping the exam to save time is a mistake. A pair that is fast but wrong will cost you more time later.

Which lens fits which person

  • Basic 1.50: a straightforward single vision pair for a moderate prescription.
  • Opulens Advanced 1.60: a good all-round everyday lens for school, office and screens.
  • Opulens Ultra 1.60: built to cope with humidity, sweat and smudges.

Book the exam, then ask by name

Book a Vision7 eye test at your nearest Vision Express store. The seven-step exam, run by a licensed optometrist, gives you a prescription you can trust before the lens is made.

Then ask for Opulens Advanced 1.60 for an everyday pair in 20 minutes. If you live with smudges and humidity, ask for Opulens Ultra 1.60. Every pair comes with a 1-year warranty, free lifetime ultrasonic cleaning, and free lifetime custom fitting and adjustment.
