Ready in 20 minutes or 1 to 2 days? How to read the Express service list

Ready in 20 minutes or 1 to 2 days? How to read the Express service list

"Ready in 20 minutes" is one of the most useful promises in optical retail, and one of the most misunderstood. It does not apply to every lens. The Vision Express Express service list has two speeds, and knowing which lens sits where saves you a second trip.

The three in-stock lenses

Three lenses on the menu are in stock and ready in 20 minutes:

  • Basic 1.50. Single vision. The simplest lens on the menu.
  • Opulens Advanced 1.60. Listed in the blue light category.
  • Opulens Ultra 1.60. Also listed in the blue light category.

In stock means the lens blanks are already in the store or ready to cut. Once your prescription and frame are confirmed, the team shapes and fits them while you wait. That is why the time is so short.

The 1 to 2 day lenses

Several Express lenses are ready in 1 to 2 days instead:

  • Opulens Blue Light 1.56. Blue light.
  • Essilor Photochromic Elements White 1.56. Photochromic, for single vision and progressive.
  • Essilor Transitions Classic HMC 1.56. Photochromic.
  • Essilor Elements White 1.56. Progressive.

The menu does not explain why these take a little longer, so we will not guess. What matters is the practical difference. Plan for a next-day pickup or a short wait, not a 20-minute stop.

The Express list still beats most lens orders

Compare these to the full menu. Essilor lenses from France are typically 3 to 5 days. Shamir lenses from Israel are 7 to 9 days. Nikon from Japan is 3 to 5 days. Tokai from Japan is 10 to 12 days. A lens that is ready in 1 to 2 days is still fast.

Which lens for which situation

  • Your glasses just broke and you need a pair today. Basic 1.50, Opulens Advanced 1.60 or Opulens Ultra 1.60.
  • You work on screens and can come back tomorrow. Opulens Blue Light 1.56.
  • You are outdoors a lot and want a lens that adapts to light. Essilor Transitions Classic HMC 1.56 or Essilor Photochromic Elements White 1.56.
  • You wear progressives and need a quick pair. Essilor Elements White 1.56, or the photochromic version.
  • You sweat through your commute. Opulens Ultra 1.60, the lens we name for humidity, sweat and smudges.

Express does not mean no exam

The speed applies to making the lens, not to skipping the eye test. A pair is only as good as the prescription behind it. If your last exam was more than a year or two ago, or if your vision has changed, book a Vision7 exam first. Many customers do the exam, choose a frame and have their glasses before they finish lunch.

Seven things that keep the timing on track

  1. Bring your current glasses if you have them.
  2. Bring a recent prescription if you have one, but expect a new exam if it is old.
  3. Choose your frame before the lens decision, because the frame shape affects the lens.
  4. Arrive early in the day if you want same-day pickup.
  5. Ask which lens is in stock before you commit to one.
  6. For 1 to 2 day lenses, ask for a pickup time rather than guessing.
  7. Order a backup pair if your work depends on your glasses.

A Philippine reality check

Malls get busy. Weekends, payday Fridays and the weeks before Christmas fill the stores. A 20-minute lens can turn into a longer visit when the exam queue is full. Book your Vision7 exam ahead if you can, and ask the team how busy the day is likely to be. Stock can also change, so call ahead if you need a specific lens.

Offers and warranty

Express lenses still come with the standard service. Free lifetime ultrasonic cleaning, free lifetime custom fitting and adjustment, and a 1-year warranty all apply. The store-wide Buy 1 Get 1 50% off offer runs from 1 September 2026. Confirm current terms in store.

Book your Vision7 eye test

Book a Vision7 eye test at your nearest Vision Express store. The seven-step exam gives the team the prescription that every Express lens depends on. Then ask for Opulens Advanced 1.60 at the counter if you need glasses in 20 minutes, or Opulens Blue Light 1.56 if you can come back in 1 to 2 days for a dedicated screen lens.
